Four months after he announced he was transferring away from Boise State, Hank Bachmeier has landed at Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs, which play in Conference USA, went 3-9 last season, the first under head coach Sonny Cumbie. Its starting quarterback, freshman Landry Lyddy, entered the transfer portal just over a week ago. "I wanted to play in the Air Raid and in a pass-friendly offense," Bachmeier told ESPN. "I think Coach Cumbie and his track record are a great fit. It's an offense that any quarterback would want to play in." As many remember, Bachmeier hit the transfer portal after four treacherous games to start his senior season.

The Broncos' four-year starting quarterback turned the ball over three times in the opener against Oregon State and was benched for Taylen Green. Then a few weeks later, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound former four-star recruit completed less than 40% of his passes in an embarrassing loss at UTEP. Offensive coordinator Tim Plough was fired the next day and Bachmeier was in the transfer portal not long after. Bachmeier, who will head to Louisiana Tech with two years of eligibility remaining, came to Boise State in 2019 as the highest-ranked quarterback recruit to ever sign with a Mountain West school. - Idaho Press

Former Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier is heading to the Bayou State to finish his college football career. Bachmeier told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Wednesday that he's going to Louisiana Tech, a Conference USA school. He has two years of eligibility remaining. The four-year starter for the Broncos announced he was transferring last September, not long after Boise State lost to major underdog UTEP and offensive coordinator Tim Plough was fired.

PM Bachmeier said he picked the program in Ruston, Louisiana, in part because of head coach Sonny Cumbie's Air Raid scheme on offense. The system routinely produced quarterbacks who passed for more than 4,000 yards a season when he was the offensive coordinator at Texas Tech. The native of Murrieta, California, won the starting job all four years he was at Boise State. He went 20-9 as the starter and ranks in the top 10 in program history in career passing yards (6,605, No. 7) and touchdown passes (41, No. 7). Roberts is such a dominant force whenever he is on the field, whether it is blocking kicks or making big hits. Roberts was a preseason all-conference selection. Roberts finished the season with 72 tackles, including 43 unassisted and 5 1/2 tackles for loss. He returned two interceptions for touchdowns and blocked two kicks on special teams. He also had five passes defended and recovered two fumbles. Not everybody is deciding to stick around and savor Tennessee's first 11-win season in more than two decades. Three offensive reserves for the Volunteers - sophomore receiver Walker Merrill, redshirt freshman tackle William Parker and redshirt sophomore tackle RJ Perry - have entered the NCAA transfer portal this week, with Merrill and Perry submitting their names Wednesday. The trio combined for just 135 offensive snaps all season. Merrill played 55 offensive snaps in seven games and made the most of them, racking up eight receptions for 116 yards and three touchdowns.

The former ESPN and Rivals.com four-star signee out of Brentwood High School near Nashville scored against Ball State, Akron and Vanderbilt, but the 6-foot-1, 195-pounder didn't play a single offensive snap in Friday night's 31-14 downing of Clemson in the Orange Bowl. The Vols defeated the Tigers despite not having receivers Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman due to opt-out decisions. Although action doesn't officially start until Monday, among the reported quarterbacks in, or planning to be to enter the transfer portal as of Dec. 1 is Boise State's Hank Bachmeier: He was a three-year starter for the Broncos who decided in September this season to move on. He is most definitely not a dual-threat guy. Bachmeier finished his time at Boise with 6,605 passing yards and 41 TDs but also 19 interceptions from 2019-22. He battled through injuries and played behind an underperforming offensive line. Any team looking for a pass-first quarterback figures to at least have at least a modicum of interest in Bachmeier, who has seasons of eligibility remaining. - NFL Draft Scout and online sources
